Guided Shamanic Journeys

Transforming despair, grief, and COVID-19 isolation

David M. Steinhorn, M.D., a nationally known specialist in pediatric critical care, palliative care and hospice medicine at Children’s National Hospital, Washington, D.C., and Jana Din, a Shamanic Healing Practitioner and Co-founder/Director of the Tao Center for Healing, https://taocenterforhealing.com/ are a modern day amalgam between Western medicine and indigenous shamanic healing. Their unique collaboration began in 2013 to provide shamanic healing support to patients and their family members at UC Davis Medical Center and George Mark Children’s House, the first free-standing children’s hospice in the United States. Their collaboration and Transpersonal Medicine approach to healing continues nationwide, and was featured in a nationally broadcast television show, Healing Quest, in a segment titled “Shamans in the ICU.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBQ7QKmHwAY Responding to the despair, grief and quarantine that critically ill COVID-19 patients and their loved ones are experiencing, Steinhorn and Din produced a 15 minute guided shamanic journey, available on Youtube https://youtu.be/gZB3MIz4YZ8 for these patients, to alleviate feelings of isolation, and foster feelings of loving connection with their family members. Their intention is to relieve the suffering people experience in the midst of despair, loss and grief, and transform it through the spiritual lens of shamanism which puts all of life’s experiences into a larger healing paradigm.
